I am currently a college student, hoping to get an art degree and work between a regular, day job and do commissions in the future. DA is more of a place for me to chill out and have fun with my artwork. My gallery in its entirely is not meant to be a portfolio. However I will occasionally post work that I put a large amount of time and effort to. The rest of my works are just meant to be products of de-stressing myself and loosening up a bit. I'll either take my work seriously or just have fun with it (or both at the same time). DeviantArt is a place for me to explore my ideas and put it all down onto a gallery where I can look at everything as a whole online with others.

Facebook (please ask me first via Notes, then message about who you are on FB when sending a friend request)
I've heard of artists on this site discussing in their journals and the forums regarding this odd phenomenon.

I don't get why some people beg for points or favs when they can be earned in simple ways.
1. Posting art and putting effort into them.  -  Spending a little more time on drawings and paintings is one way to make work appear "finished".
Personally, before I reach a "finished product" I'll subconsciously ask myself question such as, "should this be colored?" "What coloring medium should I use?" "Or should I scan this in and color in PhotoShop or Sai?"

Also, I try to fix glaring errors such as eyes being in the wrong position, eye size, and other anatomical & perspective errors. The less obvious errors can be examined by flipping an image via PhotoShop or by looking at how the work looks behind the paper.

2. Joining Groups
Finding a group pertaining to one's interests and subject matter (what your art is usually about) is one way to get the right audience. (Begging random people for favs sounds rather desperate and rude, because not everyone is into Final Fantasy, Pokemon, or MLP.)
Also, I have personal rule of thumb when it comes to joining groups. If I find a group that has strict quality standards regarding submissions, I'll just move on and find a similar group that is accommodating to beginner, intermediate, and amateur artists. (I don't bother trying to get into a group that will probably say "no" or does not match with the work, style and skill wise, that I do.)

I think that's all I can put out there.
